Matthew Dellavedova (born September 8, 1990college basketball player from Maryborough, Victoria, Australia. He is currently a sophomore at Saint Mary's College of California and is also a member of the Australian national basketball team.
) is an AustralianDellavedova was recruited to Saint Mary's College of California out of the Australian Institute of Sport and signed with the Gaels before the 2009-10 season. He was one of the top junior players in Australia; ESPN.com rated Dellavedova as the #73 shooting guard recruit for the 2008-09 recruiting season.[2]
Dellavedova immediately contributed for the Gaels and started each of the first 15 games of the season for the team. As of January 1, 2010, he averaged 13.4 points per game as the team's second leading scorer for the Gaels, who began the season 13-2.[3]
Dellavedova competed for the Australian junior national basketball team at the FIBA Under-19 World Championship 2009. He was the team's third leading scorer - averaging 10.1 points per game - for the fourth-place Australians.[4] He was selected to the Australian senior national basketball team for the first time at the FIBA Oceania Championship 2009. At age 19, he was the youngest Australian player at the Championships.
